Each meeting of TRABA usually includes the discussion of information about upcoming events and other group related information, an Iron In the Hat raffle, and an Open Forge.
Members of TRABA can bring metal, tools, equipment, and other useful items to donate to the group which will be raffled off in the Iron In the Hat. Items donated will be placed on a table with a cup next to it for members to place tickets to draw for that item. Raffle tickets are bought for $1 each (unless specified otherwise) and are placed in the desired cup. After all desired tickets are purchased, a member of the group will shuffle the tickets, draw one ticket, and the winning ticket number will be announce. If your ticket is drawn, you provide the matching ticket to show it is your winning, and you now are the proud owner of whatever you have won!
Not all smiths have the equipment needed at their home to enjoy working on a project involving blacksmithing or even bladesmithing. The TRABA Forge group has equipment setup to allow members to use during this time. Open Forge is after the initial group meeting and Iron In the Hat drawings are all complete. If you have paid your yearly dues (as required in the membership) and have completed the Green Coal class, you are able to participate in TRABA's Open Forge events.
